Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
Yes — FunctNP currently accepts Idaho Medicaid for qualifying visits.
We are also a self-pay practice while credentialing with additional major insurers is in progress.
This means you can still be seen right away, even if your plan isn’t active with us yet.
We provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement and accept HSA/FSA cards for all visits.
We’ll update patients as new insurance contracts go live.
Can I use HSA/FSA?
Yes. All visits, labs, and supplements at FunctNP are eligible for HSA and FSA payment.
You can use your card directly at the time of service, and we’re happy to provide detailed itemized receipts if your plan requires documentation for reimbursement.
What is Next-Gen Functional Medicine?
Next-Gen Functional Medicine is the evolution of traditional functional medicine — rooted in science, powered by data, and guided by the nervous system.
It moves beyond supplement stacks and one-size-fits-all protocols to focus on what truly regulates your body: your stress response, your energy production, your circadian rhythm, and your ability to adapt.
At FunctNP, this means:
Using modern diagnostics (labs, HRV, EKG, metabolic testing) to understand how your systems communicate.
Addressing root causes while still practicing through a clinical, evidence-based lens.
Pairing conventional medicine with functional insight for care that is both smart and sustainable.
Always beginning with regulation — calming the system before rebuilding it.
It’s not anti-medicine.
It’s medicine, reimagined for the modern woman.
Do you offer gynecologic exams?
Yes! We offer routine women’s health exams as part of our Functional Primary Care visits.
Your visit includes standard pelvic and breast exams when indicated — but we take it a step further.
At FunctNP, we also offer advanced vaginal microbiome testing, giving you a deeper look at flora balance, inflammation, and recurrent infections beyond the scope of a standard pap.
This allows us to understand not just what’s there, but why symptoms happen — and design care that supports your body’s natural balance..
What is Vaginal Microbiome Testing?
Vaginal microbiome testing looks beyond a standard swab or pap smear.
It analyzes the full community of bacteria, yeast, and inflammatory markers that influence your vaginal and reproductive health.
At FunctNP, we use this test to identify patterns linked to recurrent infections, odor, irritation, or hormonal shifts, even when routine cultures appear “normal.”
It’s a deeper look at your body’s ecosystem, helping us design targeted, restorative care that supports long-term balance. Not just short-term treatment.
Do you send Referrals?
Yes. As a primary care practice, we coordinate and send referrals when specialty care, imaging, or procedures are needed.
At FunctNP, our goal is to make your care as connected and efficient as possible, whether that means referring to gynecology, endocrinology, imaging centers, or other specialists.
We work closely with local providers to ensure your labs, notes, and care plans travel with you, so you’re never starting over or repeating the same story twice.
Do you offer advanced functional testing?
Yes — we offer a full range of advanced functional labs, including hormone, adrenal, gut, micronutrient, and inflammation testing.
However, at FunctNP, testing isn’t our first step.
We begin by understanding your story, your nervous system, and your current physiology through a detailed intake and conventional lab work.
From there, we layer in advanced testing only when it adds clarity or direction, never as a blanket starting point.
This intentional approach helps us prioritize what your body actually needs and prevents unnecessary cost or overwhelm.
Do you prescribe medications and supplements?
Yes. As a certified family nurse practitioner, I can prescribe both medications and supplements when clinically appropriate.
At FunctNP, we take a balanced approach. Prescriptions are used when they’re the best tool for relief or prevention, and supplements are chosen for precision, not excess.
Our goal is to support your body with the right intervention at the right time , whether that’s a prescription, targeted nutrient, or lifestyle change.
